The Fuller Park Playable Art will be a one-of-a-kind playground for kids and families that is designed to be an artistic landmark in Napa and encourage social interaction and movement for all abilities through various types of play opportunities.
Project Implementation began in 2021 when the Public Art Steering Committee (PASC) approved the Arts in Parks program for the Public Art Fund. The goal of this program is to diversify the City's public art and expand into the City's park system. PASC approved City Staff recommendation to focus on Fuller Park and to build Napa's first playable art playground that reimagines play environments for youth and families.
In March 2023, the Design Firm selection committee reviewed all submitted proposals from potential design firms and ranked respondents based on Firm Qualifications, Design Portfolio, Design Process and References. The selection committee has recommended Specified Play Equipment Co. (SPEC) to be the selected Design Firm. This recommendation was approved by PASC in June 2023.
SPEC is based out of Belmont, CA and designs and constructs award winning play spaces for all ages and abilities to experience risk, failure, and mastery. They are a team of structural engineers, project managers, product specialists, landscape designers, and community outreach coordinators. SPEC is an independent company representing independent manufacturers from all over the world which ensures that the group can build design-forward, unique, and inclusive play spaces with multiple material types and design perspectives.
