Adventure Camp provides a fun, safe environment for campers to explore John F. Kennedy Park on foot, on wheels, and through special guests and events. Campers will learn about native plants, animals, and birds, participate in special events, and meet local guests with cool jobs! Of course, it's not camp without making new friends, playing fun games, learning archery, STEM projects, making arts and crafts, and so much more! Adventure Camp will also spend one day a week at a local school site for swimming and the day's activities.

Leader in Training (LIT) for ages 13 - 15

Kids on a hikeThe Leader-in-Training (LIT) program provides a safe space for teens to explore and grow as they learn about the ins and outs of being a Camp Counselor. The LIT program will focus on key principles such as safety, leadership, responsibility, and communication. All programs and activities will relate back to that day's topic.

LEVEL 1 (pre-requisite for Level 2)

Level 1 is the introduction to Leader-in-Training and this 3-week session will focus on the basic camp concepts. Each LIT will receive a course binder containing all of the coursework. LIT's will share their time between the classroom and a week at each camp. The program has been designed this way in order to help LIT's to better understand our Summer Camp Programs and what it means to be a fantastic leader.

Week 1: Classroom
Week 2: Camp Napa
Week 3: Adventure Camp

Application Process
Level 1 participants may register online beginning February 1, 2024. Download the LIT application here. Once the application is completed and signed by a parent/guardian, please submit it to [email protected] for review no later than June 4, 2024.

If selected, your child will be contacted and invited to an in-person interview. The application, interview, and parent/guardian orientation are required. Interviews will be held on June 8, 2024 from 9am-3pm (there are no other days). Parent/guardian orientation with the Leader-in-Training participant will be on June 14, 2024 at 6:00pm.

LEVEL 2 (must complete Level 1 first)

Level 2 will continue to build on the ideas and concepts learned in Level 1 while also learning about additional topics such as planning and organization.
