Improvements Completed
The Edward I. Barwick Jamieson Canyon Water Treatment Plant was improved to take beneficial use of the City’s existing State Water Project entitlements, meet daily water demands alone for longer periods throughout the year, and comply with increasingly stringent water quality regulations. The Water Division procured $48 million in bonds to finance this critical public works project. Customers may notice the improved taste resulting from additional ozone treatment when this plant is in operation.
After three years of construction, the project was completed in 2011 more than $4M under budget. Upgrades include new pretreatment basins, two new filters, a new chemical storage facility, and the addition of pre- and intermediate ozone injection systems.
