Update: City of Napa and Napa County "2x2" Meetings

City of Napa and Napa County

Follow Up Response to Recent Media Coverage - From the City of Napa and Napa County:

The City of Napa and Napa County “2x2” committee met on Tuesday and agreed to suspend the structured “2x2” meetings to allow the county to complete its facility needs assessment work.

Earlier this summer, the Napa City Council and the Napa County Board of Supervisors committed to engaging in discussions concerning the future facility needs of each agency and opportunities for collaboration. To facilitate these discussions, two representatives were appointed from both the City Council and the Board of Supervisors to form a “2x2” committee, which has allowed for discussions concerning a range of facility challenges and requirements faced by both entities.

Throughout these discussions, Supervisors Joelle Gallagher and Ryan Gregory, along with Mayor Scott Sedgley and Councilmember Mary Luros, have demonstrated a dedicated commitment to engaging in thorough and meaningful dialogue focused on enhancing services for their constituents in the coming years.

Napa County is currently engaged in its own assessment of facility needs, a process that will significantly inform future decisions. This comprehensive Facilities Master Plan, anticipated to be finalized by January 2024, will focus on streamlined operations, evaluate spatial requirements, and propose recommended solutions to provide the county with a clearer understanding of its facility needs.

In light of this data-driven process, both the city and county have jointly agreed to suspend the structured "2x2" meetings to allow the county to complete its assessment of facility needs.  When completed, the “2x2” committee will review outcomes of the assessment and discuss next steps, potentially expanding its scope to encompass future use of government-owned properties, as well as continuing to seek future opportunities for collaboration.

While the focus of the “2x2” committee is on providing recommendations to the governing bodies for optimizing the use of publicly owned properties in Napa, both organizations are dedicated to each other's success, emphasizing collaboration and communication across all matters, beyond facilities.
