The City of Napa Seeks Input From the Public on the Composition of District Boundaries
The community's input is extremely important in the development of the voting districts as we transition to a district-based election system for Councilmembers and the City is seeking the public’s participation in the process.
In response to input received at the February 25, 2020 Special City Council Meeting, staff has made a slight change in timing, and added a second location to the Community Workshop on Sunday, March 8th.
What you can do to participate:
- Complete the Community of Interest Worksheet. Visit https://www.cityofnapa.org/899/Community-of-Interest-Worksheet to complete the online worksheet, or complete the attached worksheet and return by email to [email protected], or return a hard copy to City Hall, City Clerk’s Office at 955 School Street.
- Attend the Community Workshop where you can draw your own map. Workshops will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at two different locations including McPherson Elementary School (2670 Yajome St.) and St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church Parish Hall (924 Napa St.).
The first session of the Community Workshop will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at McPherson Elementary School. An identical second session of the Community Workshop will take place from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church Parish Hall. The City’s demographer will provide presentations at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with hands-on exercises to draw sample maps after each presentation. The Community Workshop will allow the opportunity for our demographer and staff to obtain input from the public regarding proposed district boundaries in a more informal setting. A summary of the comments received at the Community Workshop will be presented to the City Council at the public hearing held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
