The City of Napa is Here for You The City of Napa is working hard to maintain essential City services for our community, while ensuring the health and well-being of our employees. While our offices are closed, staff is still available to provide service over the phone or by appointment, in some cases.
As we see nicer weather over the weekend and into next week, it is crucial, now more than ever to follow the current "Shelter-at-Home" Orders from the State and County Public Health officials, maintain social distancing, and practice good hand hygiene. As Napa County begins to see more confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), following these guidelines are essential to successfully "flatten the curve".
Do you have concerns about businesses complying with the Shelter at Home and social distancing orders? Please submit your questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 compliance to [email protected].

Your Napa County leaders have it covered! The CDC recently issued new recommendations for wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores and pharmacies. That’s why Calistoga Mayor Chris Canning, American Canyon Mayor Leon Garcia, Yountville Mayor John Dunbar, Napa Mayor Jill Techel, Chair of the Napa County Board of Supervisors Diane Dillon, and St. Helena Mayor Geoff Ellsworth all agree – keep it covered up if you go out! Your leaders are here to support all Napa communities throughout this crisis and remind you all that we are in this together! Stay Home, Save Lives Napa County reminds community members that the Shelter-At-Home Order prohibits gatherings and directs individuals to stay home except for essential activities until 11:59PM on April 30, 2020 to protect individuals from the possible transmission of COVID-19. Unfortunately, this Order impacts religious events that are underway throughout the month.
The Order impacts observances where gatherings usually take place, including Holy Week and Easter, Passover, Orthodox Easter, Ramadan and other religious practices. It is important to emphasize that suspension of in-person gatherings is not a suspension of worship. There are many ways that religious practices can still be observed, including livestreaming or watching recordings online.
In addition, Napa County reminds the public that avoiding non-essential travel and activities, social distancing when outside, and washing hands frequently are ways to stop the spread of coronavirus in our community. For more information on COVID-19, visit www.countyofnapa.org/coronavirus. For questions about COVID-19, call the Public Information Line at (707) 253-4540 (Monday – Friday, from 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm) or email [email protected]

Cleaning Your Cloth Face CoveringIt’s a good idea to wash your cloth face covering frequently, ideally after each use, or at least daily. Have a bag or bin to keep cloth face coverings in until they can be laundered with detergent and hot water and dried on a hot cycle. If you must re-wear your cloth face covering before washing, wash your hands immediately after putting it back on and avoid touching your face. Discard cloth face coverings that: - No longer cover the nose and mouth
- Have stretched out or damaged ties or straps
- Cannot stay on the face
- Have holes or tears in the fabric

Saving Water While Sheltering-At-HomeHaving the whole family at home all day doesn’t mean your water bill has to spike! One billing unit (1,000 gallons) can more than handle a family of four’s indoor water needs for a week. Your water dollars can be stretched even further by adopting some very simple indoor conservation behaviors: - Fix Leaks! Saves 110 gallons each month. Take the 10 Minute WaterSense Challenge.
- Wash only Full Loads in the Clothes Washer (saves 15-45 gallons per load) and Dishwasher (saves 5-15 gallons per load).
- Shorten Shower Times to 5 minutes. Saves up to 10 gallons per shower.
- Fill the Bathtub Halfway or less. Saves 12 gallons per bath.
- ...and The Classic: Turn off Water when Shaving or Brushing Teeth. Saves 10 gallons per person per day.

City Offices Closed - But Staff is Still Here to Serve Our Community All public counters in City of Napa offices have been closed to the public, and open only on a by-appointment basis. Members of the public may request an appointment using the phone numbers listed below; and the City continues to receive and respond to correspondence via email or U.S. mail.
Through these changes, including the use of social distancing and offering assistance and service over the phone, we can do our part to minimize COVID-19 exposure to City staff and the public. These closures and modifications can be found here.
