Electric Vehicle Charging Station Project

Lot A - at the corner of Coombs and Second Streets - To Receive Facelift

Work began last week on the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at Lot A, on the corner of Coombs and Second Streets. The work will include the installation of four stations, two dual and two single ports, for a total of six charging stalls. The east side of the parking lot will also be repaved and restriped. The work is expected to take seven weeks to complete. This project will add to the number of available charging locations in the busy downtown area, as well as providing needed repairs to a busy public parking lot.

The lot closure began Monday and will remain closed until the completion of the  project (approximately mid-December). The lot adjacent to the project (behind the Goodman Library) and the second street parking garage will remain open throughout the duration of the project.

CANV

Community Action Napa Valley (CANV) Food Pantry Network

CANV's Food Pantry Network allows low-income residents of Napa County to receive an allotment of food from one of 7 locations every 30 days. Allotments are based on household size but will consist of meat, dairy, produce and dry and canned food items.

Pantries are located in the City of Napa, Calistoga, St. Helena, Lake Berryessa, Pope Valley, Angwin, and American Canyon. Together they serve an average of more than 1,000 local households each month.

Napa's Food Bank Site is located on Yajome Street with a large attendance during distribution times (listed below), leading to significant traffic impacts. We encourage everyone to drive safely and be aware of other drivers, pedestrians and residents in the area.

Napa Store House
1746 Yajome Street

Wednesdays from 9:00 PM to 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Thursday from 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Drug Take Back Day

Another Successful Drug Take Back Day in Napa County!

During the most recent Drug Take Back Day held on Saturday, October 24, 2,108 pounds of unused or unwanted drugs and medications were collected between six locations in Napa County, with 1,358 pounds collected at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices site in Napa. 589 pounds of medical sharps were also collected at the Napa Kaiser Permanente site, with 295 additional pounds of medical sharps collected among the five other collection sites in Napa County.

Residents were encouraged to bring their unused or expired over-the-counter and prescription medications to any of the six collections locations in Napa County. The effort of our residents to dispose of these medications safely means that less of these substances make it to our waterways or landfills, or languish on a cabinet to be improperly used or accidentally end up in the hands of a child.

Couldn't make it to Drug Take Back Day? You can dispose of unwanted pharmaceuticals and home generated sharps year-round at the Napa-Vallejo Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 889A Devlin Rd. in American Canyon. Visit NapaRecycling.com/Medicine for more information.

Browns Valley Trunk Sewer Project Update

Sewer pipeline installation will begin on South Jefferson Street the week of November 9th.  This work will start at the corner of Sycamore and South Jefferson Streets and proceed north towards Old Sonoma Road.  Pipeline installation will take place over a one-week period.  Jefferson Street will remain open to traffic with flaggers controlling the flow of cars. Access to properties will be maintained at all times for local residents and emergency services.  Public transportation, mail delivery, and solid waste collection services will continue as normal.  Please be prepared for traffic delays in this area, and if possible, use an alternate route to avoid this construction zone.

A detour route comprised of Pine Street, Foothill Boulevard, and Old Sonoma Road will be in place.  Please plan for traffic delays and parking restrictions in this area.
