Thank You, Essential Workers! During last Tuesday's City Council meeting, the Napa City Council passed a resolution recognizing the significant and outstanding contributions of Napa's essential workers over the course of the pandemic.
For more than a year, Napa's frontline workers have continued to stock the shelves of our grocery stores, deliver us food when we couldn't dine out, packaged our medication, responded to emergencies, kept our water and electricity running and provided essential care to those of us who fell sick -- all while facing increased health risks themselves. Napa is so grateful for their tireless work and sacrifices, which has not gone unnoticed and will not be forgotten.
We could not have gotten through this pandemic without you.

Celebrating Municipal Clerks WeekThe City of Napa celebrated Municipal Clerks Week by giving a huge shout out to our City Clerk's Department - and our very own Caitlin Saldanha - 2021 Deputy Clerk of the Year, awarded by the California City Clerks Association!
When she was hired in 2019, Caitlin quickly implemented the City of Napa's first Public Records Act tracking system. She has also been an integral part of Napa's transition to voting districts and became the agenda management system expert and administrator. Nominated by Mayor Scott Sedgley, City Manager Steve Potter, and City Clerk Tiffany Carranza, Caitlin is known for her positive attitude, unparalleled work ethic and the "go-to" person for Napa. Thank you for helping the City operate smoothly and efficiently, Caitlin!

And when the City had to move much of our workforce and systems online as the pandemic hit, our entire City Clerks department worked tirelessly to transition our City Council meetings and other public meetings to an online format. They also led the City's districting process last summer and ensured we met the community outreach requirements, all during the beginning of the pandemic. Then, in November, the City Clerks team hosted Napa's first district-based election that saw incredible voter turnout, all during a public health emergency.
The City is so thankful for the City Clerks Department and their dedication to providing excellent service to our residents. Learn more at https://www.cityofnapa.org/150/City-Clerk. Meet some of our City Clerk staff below!

May is Bay-Friendly Garden Month!Last year’s transition from a decade-long, on-day Bay-Friendly Garden Tour to a virtual Bay-Friendly Garden Month was a resounding success, and we will continue that virtual fanfare during May of 2021. Throughout the month, the Napa County Resource Conservation District (Napa RCD) and City of Napa Water will present a suite of live online workshops and garden tours, as well as featuring online resources to inspire local residents to adopt water-saving, sustainable landscaping practices in their own yards. From the hub at NapaRCD.org/GardenMonth2021, you can access pre-recorded videos and register for upcoming workshops. This year we are excited to announce workshops focusing on drawing good bugs to your gardens, kid-friendly gardening, greywater systems on a landowner scale, gardening to ensure gorgeous live flower bouquets for your home, and local garden tours showcasing our local Bay-Friendly Gardening rock stars. Additional resources will be added throughout the month, and all videos will be preserved for later viewing. Several garden visits will be Facebook Live events. Workshops will be presented via Zoom and Facebook Live, with registration available at the Bay-Friendly Garden Month home page: https://naparcd.org/GardenMonth2021. Sponsors and helpers for these virtual online events include the City of Napa, Napa County RCD, and UC Master Gardeners of Napa County. They are inspired by Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening, a former program of ReScape California (rescapeca.org), a non-profit organization that advocates for a sustainable approach to landscaping that works in harmony with the natural environment.
