COVID-19 Guidance Update As the COVID-19 guidance from federal and state public health agencies continues to evolve, there is a high level of confusion. In regard to recent guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it’s important to note that their guidance states “except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.” Napa County Public Health Department is awaiting updated guidance from the CA Dept of Public Health. Cal-OSHA is in the process of updating guidance, but it is not yet in effect. In the State of California, businesses are still required to follow current Cal-OSHA guidance, which includes masking of all employees in most indoor settings.
Revisions to Cal/OSHA's COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards (8 CCR Sections 3025-3205.4) will be considered by the California Occupational Safety & Health Standards Board at its May 20th meeting. For more information: https://www.dir.ca.gov/OSHSB/COVID-19-Prevention-Emergency.html

Congressman Mike Thompson Presents Mayor Scott Sedgley With American Rescue Plan Funds Thank you to Congressman Mike Thompson who presented City of Napa Mayor Scott Sedgley with aid from the American Rescue Plan! The federal government passed the ARP in mid-March to help stimulate the economy and provide immediate relief to millions of Americans. Though the City remains in a deficit position following the budgetary impacts from the pandemic, this one-time aid will act as a necessary bridge for the City as it approaches the recovery process. Napa will use the ARP funds to fill 62 positions that have been left vacant for more than a year to improve efficiency, customer service and effectiveness within the City.
Though we have a ways to go before Napa fully recovers financially, we are grateful to receive ARP aid and continue looking toward the future. Learn more about the City of Napa's financial situation at https://www.cityofnapa.org/951/9226/FY-201920-and-FY-202021-Budgets.

May is Bay-Friendly Garden Month!Last year’s transition from a decade-long, on-day Bay-Friendly Garden Tour to a virtual Bay-Friendly Garden Month was a resounding success, and we will continue that virtual fanfare during May of 2021. Throughout the month, the Napa County Resource Conservation District (Napa RCD) and City of Napa Water will present a suite of live online workshops and garden tours, as well as featuring online resources to inspire local residents to adopt water-saving, sustainable landscaping practices in their own yards. From the hub at NapaRCD.org/GardenMonth2021, you can access pre-recorded videos and register for upcoming workshops. This year we are excited to announce workshops focusing on drawing good bugs to your gardens, kid-friendly gardening, greywater systems on a landowner scale, gardening to ensure gorgeous live flower bouquets for your home, and local garden tours showcasing our local Bay-Friendly Gardening rock stars. Additional resources will be added throughout the month, and all videos will be preserved for later viewing. Several garden visits will be Facebook Live events. Workshops will be presented via Zoom and Facebook Live, with registration available at the Bay-Friendly Garden Month home page: https://naparcd.org/GardenMonth2021. Sponsors and helpers for these virtual online events include the City of Napa, Napa County RCD, and UC Master Gardeners of Napa County. They are inspired by Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening, a former program of ReScape California (rescapeca.org), a non-profit organization that advocates for a sustainable approach to landscaping that works in harmony with the natural environment.
