The Napa Fire Department Shares Fire Prevention Tips - With a Fun Video Parody! Check it out!The Napa Fire Department has put together a fun, educational video parody based on the original Talking Heads song and video titled “Burning Down the House”.
Please take a moment of your time to watch our video. As you will see and hear, we have changed the title of the song to “ Don’t Burn Down Your House”. We rewrote and sang the lyrics to be all about fire safety. The video was filmed and edited entirely on a cellphone by the Fire Department staff. After several consecutive years of massive wildfires and the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic, we understand the hardships communities across the globe are feeling. We hope this music video not only brings some smiles and laughter back to people’s faces but also helps to educate adults and children about fire safety.
Please help us spread this fire safety message by sharing this video with your friends, family, co-workers, children and students through your social media, word of mouth or any other mechanism you have at your disposal. Thank you in advance for your help!

COVID-19 Mask Guidance Update from the State of CaliforniaRecently, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks, except when federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws require, including local guidelines for places of business and work. While this is positive news showing vaccines are working, it is important to note that the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced last week that our state will wait until June 15 to implement mask guidelines CDC updates. This means that the current CDPH mask guide remains effective until June 15, 2021. Find the current guide here: http://ow.ly/diUr50EOVB5. In addition, companies, businesses, and employers must still follow Cal-OSHA's current guidelines, which includes all employees wearing masks in most indoor settings. Find Cal-OSHA's COVID-19 guide here: http://ow.ly/i9by50EOVB4Remember, COVID-19 continues to circulate to moderate levels in our community, and about half of our local population, including children, are not yet fully vaccinated. We understand that people are looking forward to being mask-free and the fastest way to get there safely is for all eligible people in our community to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

May is Bay-Friendly Garden Month!Last year’s transition from a decade-long, on-day Bay-Friendly Garden Tour to a virtual Bay-Friendly Garden Month was a resounding success, and we will continue that virtual fanfare during May of 2021. Throughout the month, the Napa County Resource Conservation District (Napa RCD) and City of Napa Water will present a suite of live online workshops and garden tours, as well as featuring online resources to inspire local residents to adopt water-saving, sustainable landscaping practices in their own yards. From the hub at NapaRCD.org/GardenMonth2021, you can access pre-recorded videos and register for upcoming workshops. This year we are excited to announce workshops focusing on drawing good bugs to your gardens, kid-friendly gardening, greywater systems on a landowner scale, gardening to ensure gorgeous live flower bouquets for your home, and local garden tours showcasing our local Bay-Friendly Gardening rock stars. Additional resources will be added throughout the month, and all videos will be preserved for later viewing. Several garden visits will be Facebook Live events. Workshops will be presented via Zoom and Facebook Live, with registration available at the Bay-Friendly Garden Month home page: https://naparcd.org/GardenMonth2021. Sponsors and helpers for these virtual online events include the City of Napa, Napa County RCD, and UC Master Gardeners of Napa County. They are inspired by Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening, a former program of ReScape California (rescapeca.org), a non-profit organization that advocates for a sustainable approach to landscaping that works in harmony with the natural environment.
