Honoring the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Sept. 11, 2001 is a day that nearly all of us remember. We can recall exactly where we were when we heard the news, and most of us will never forget the fear, mourning and heartbreak that followed in the weeks and months after. Though 20 years may seem like a long time, for the families and loved ones who lost a piece of themselves that day, it may feel like yesterday.
As we solemnly observe and honor the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, many of us may also honor the memories of the victims, family friends, relatives, acquaintances and others who suffered because of this senseless violence. Others of us may offer condolences to surviving family members and friends of victims. But, no one will forget the selflessness and bravery of those who risked their own lives to help others.
If you would like to honor the lives lost 20 years ago, you can visit the 9/11 Memorial Garden in Napa at 1075 Main St.
On Saturday, the Napa Fire Department's Honor Guard will perform a small ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Garden to honor the 20th anniversary. The Honor Guard will stand guard from 5:45 - 7:30 AM and ring the bell for each tower collapse (at 6:59 and 7:28 AM, respectively).
Later in the morning, the Napa Sunrise Rotary will hold a public memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial Garden, to include a keynote speaker, music, a prayer and a benediction.
