BottleRock Diversion & Edible Food Recovery Did you know? As part of our ongoing efforts to divert solid waste and recycling away from landfills, City of Napa and Napa Recycling worked with BottleRock to reduce the amount of "trash" ends up in our landfills. BottleRock was held at the Napa Expo over Labor Day weekend - and the results are in!
- 58 tons of recycling
- over 21 tons of composting
- 5.5 tons of rescued food recovery
- ...for an overall 75% landfill diversion rate for the event
Of the above results, the estimated 11,000 pounds (5.5 tons) of “rescued food” is particularly impressive. The local non-profit group “Feeding It Forward” worked with BottleRock organizers and citizen volunteers to identify, collect and redistribute recovered edible food to other organizations around Napa Valley.

- Lines shall be drawn to encourage geographic compactness
