Attention City of Napa drivers and pedestrians! Our Public Works team is preparing to activate a new traffic signal at Soscol Ave and Old Soscol Way. The signal activation is scheduled for 12/14, weather permitting. If rainy weather is expected on the activation day, then activation will be postponed.
Electronic message boards will announce the signal in advance of and on the day of the activation. The signal will be placed in flashing red operation about a day before the signals go live, which should be treated as an ALL-WAY STOP.
New signal installations can catch drivers off guard, so pedestrians and drivers on Soscol Ave should be extra cautious during the activation period!

Are You Prepared for Winter?Storms Expected This Weekend and Into Next WeekThe National Weather Service expects a weather system to begin across the north by Saturday afternoon and then spread east and south, delivering periods of gusty winds, widespread rain, heavy mountain snow and isolated thunderstorms. Most impacts of this stormy weather are likely to occur Sunday through Tuesday. Rainfall totals with this system will be significant and we can expect hazardous driving conditions, downed trees, limbs and power outages and even post-wildfire debris flow.
Start by checking your drains, trimming your trees, and inspecting your roofs to prevent any damage from winter storms!
Remember that sandbags are available for free pickup on the first Saturday of each month through March at the City's Corporation Yard (note: January 2022's Sandbag Saturday will be held on January 8th). Next option for pickup is Saturday, January 8th!

Urban Water Management Plan 2020 Updates As an urban water supplier, the City of Napa is required to submit an update of its Urban Water Management Plan to the State Department of Water Resources every five years. A 2015 Urban Water Management Plan Amendment, the 2020 Urban Water Management Plan, and the Water Shortage Contingency Plan have now been drafted and are available for public review beginning December 7, 2021, on the City Water Division web page, www.cityofnapa.org/water, and at the following locations: City of Napa Utilities Department, 1700 Second Street, Suite 100, City of Napa Office of the City Clerk, 955 School Street, and Napa City-County Library, 580 Coombs Street.
The 2015 plan is being amended to meet requirements of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Reform Act of 2009. The 2020 plan is a new summary of City water supplies, demands, and conservation, and overall water service reliability through 2045. The Water Shortage Contingency Plan is a stand-alone document that guides the City through supply shortfalls up to 50% or more.
A public hearing of adoption will be held on December 21, 2021, at or after 6:30 pm in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 955 School Street, Napa. Written comments should be directed to the City Council through the City Clerk at PO Box 660, Napa, California, 94559-0660 or by email to [email protected].

The holiday season is here! Remember these fire safety tips as you decorate:
- Inspect holiday lights each year before you put them up. Recycle light strands with frayed or pinched wires, and turn lights off before leaving your home or going to bed
- Water your Christmas tree every day to keep the trunk submerged in water. Keep the tree away from heat sources
- Consider using battery-operated flameless candles, which can look, smell and feel like real candles.
- If you do use lit candles, make sure they are in stable holders and place them where they cannot be knocked down easily and blow them out when you leave the room.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
