Save Water, Napa! As California continues to experience drought conditions, it's important to do what we can here in Napa to Save Water!
Don't know where to start? Consider adopting a few of these water conservation tips:
- Applying mulch to planted areas to retain moisture in the soil. - Running only full loads of laundry or dishes. - Turning off the water while you lather with soap, shave, or brush your teeth. - Using a broom instead of a hose to clean off patios, decks, sidewalks, and driveways.

Caltrans Encampment Clean-ups The City of Napa receives many questions and concerns about homeless encampments in the city. Many of the encampments in the City of Napa, particularly in north Napa, are located on the Caltrans right of way, and therefore Caltrans, not the City of Napa makes decisions about what and when to clean or close an encampment. Encampments you may see along Highway 29, on Park and Ride property, on or under freeway onramps or overcrossings, and along State routes are Caltrans property.
The good news is the City of Napa has been notified that Caltrans has planned some clean-up efforts this week near Redwood Road and under Caltrans owned bridges. To support these efforts, the Homeless Services Outreach Teams have visited each site to offer shelter and other services. The decision to accept services rests with each individual and due to federal and state case law, the City of Napa cannot force anyone into shelter or services.
In the future, issues on Caltrans owned property can be reported here: https://csr.dot.ca.gov/. The City does report concerns we receive to Caltrans, however, we encourage the community to also report concerns. Concerns about City owned property or privately owned property in the City of Napa can be reported here.
