Legionella Information

Legionella: What You Need to Know

As it relates to the recent occurrence of Legionnaire’s disease in Napa, we understand there may be some concerns about the safety of your drinking water provided by the City of Napa.

Legionella grows in stagnant water that has no disinfection.

The tap water delivered to your home travels in buried pressurized pipes, is constantly moving and has detectable residual chlorine.  Disinfectant levels are continuously monitored at the treatment plants and are verified at locations throughout the pipe network as it travels to you, our customers. For the City of Napa, the presence of residual chlorine verifies our systems are disinfected.

We have worked with Napa County Public Health since the onset of this outbreak to provide additional information to eliminate the City municipal water system as the potential source of the outbreak.

Traffic Safety in Napa

Draft Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) Presented to Napa City Council

The City of Napa has developed a draft Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) and presented it to the City Council for feedback and comments on August 2. With this document, the City aims to identify and address local safety needs for all roadway users in Napa. City staff will incorporate the feedback received from the City Council and bring the plan back for adoption in late August or early September.

Traffic safety is a top priority for City leaders, and the LRSP establishes a framework for identifying and prioritizing strategic roadway safety enhancements in Napa. Suggested improvements focus on both pedestrian and vehicular safety measures, addressing existing concerns at signalized and unsignalized intersections, high-risk roadway segments, and more.

Read on for more about the presentation here.

Cart Placement

Waste Carts - Where to Place Them for Pick Up!

Napans, here's your friendly reminder to not trash the bike lane! Trash carts set in bike lanes or sidewalks block routes to schools and force students & others into vehicle traffic. Proper placement of carts is one simple way you can help improve traffic safety:

- Place at least 2 feet away from other carts and 4-6 feet from other objects (like cars and trees).
- Carts can be placed in front of your driveway if there's no room in front of the curb.
- All items must be placed in the cart.

For more information on proper cart placement, visit NapaRecycling.com
