Napa's Water System Celebrates 100 Years! Did you know that the City of Napa has owned and operated its own water system since 1922? This allows us to supply, treat and distribute our water!
The water system includes:
- Lake Hennessey, the major local water source located 13 miles North of the city.
- The Milliken Reservoir, located 5 miles NE of the City.
- State Water Project, which imports surface water from California’s State Water Project (SWP). The SWP diverts water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and conveys it 21 miles via the North Bay Aqueduct to Solano and Napa counties.
- 350 miles of water pipeline
- 3 treatment plants, 12 storage tanks (31 million gallons!), 10 pump stations and 11 regulator stations
