Earth Day Celebration comes to Napa once again on April 22

City of Napa Recycling, Water Conservation and Parks and Recreation exhibits will join dozens of others in the Oxbow Commons on Sunday, April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day, educating festival attendees about how they can make a difference for Napa and the planet. Moving to Sunday this year, the event runs from 11 am to 4 pm downtown along the Napa River at the wonderful Oxbow Commons Park. There will be activities for the whole family, from crafts, games, and farm animals to yoga, beer, and wine - and of course delicious local food!  Music and dancers will entertain, with bands sponsored by BottleRock Napa Valley. Best of all, beverage sales fund bus grants that enable Napa County students to enjoy environmental field trips. The event is hosted by the Environmental Education Coalition of Napa County (EECNC). Full details are found at

Westwood Neighborhood

Westwood Neighborhood to receive an update starting in July

As part of our ongoing efforts to address our road conditions here in Napa, we are ramping up to begin work in the Westwood Neighborhood soon. This is a multi-phase project that will start with asphalt overlays, sidewalk repair, and curb, gutter and ramp replacements on Kilburn Avenue, Bryan Avenue, Chelsea Avenue from Kilburn Avenue to 1st Street, Bancroft Court and Bremen Court. We anticipate to start construction in July of this year, and expect this phase of the project to last about 3 months.

To keep the neighborhood informed, we will be hosting a community meeting about the project on April 5th. Notices have been sent out to residents in the area already!

Caltrans Pavement Repair Project

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started work on a long-term project to repair the pavement on State Route 29 (SR-29) between the City of Napa and just south of the City of St. Helena.

As part of the project, Caltrans and its contractor will perform overnight pavement preparation work which includes drainage and culvert work on northbound and southbound SR-29 between Yountville and St. Helena.  

Overnight Work Starts April 2, 2018 
The work starts Monday, April 2, 2018 until Friday, April 20, 2018. Work is scheduled Mondays through Fridays starting at 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following mornings. 

One-Way Traffic Controls-Expect Delays 
To ensure worker and public safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect during the work on SR-29 between Yountville and St. Helena. Crews will alternate lane closures in both northbound and southbound directions. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.

Main Street Boat Dock

Community Day at the Main Street Boat Dock a success!

This past Saturday marked the official kick-off to the 2018 season at the Main Street Boat Dock. Over 40 community members got to try kayaking and stand up paddle (SUP) boarding along the Napa River, as well as sample yummy bites from Morimoto Napa and Basalt – thanks!

Kayak & SUP tours are NOW available as well as weekend walk-up rentals and a custom gondola from Gondola Servizio has arrived from Italy and will be on the river soon. Tours are anticipated to begin this summer. Enjoy Napa Valley Kayak Rentals and Tours  and Napa Valley Paddle helped make this event a success!

Are you a boater? Public access to the boat dock remains available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Would you rather ride than drive? Water taxi services and other motorized commercial services will continue to develop over the season and will be dependent on the tide schedule.
