As an exciting new feature of the Napa Lighted Arts Festival, a parade of participants will show off their handmade lanterns while weaving throughout downtown Napa on a short loop, energized by live music and other lighted art installations along the way. The result will be a magical and fun “art after dark” experience for viewers and participants alike. In line with the Lighted Arts Festival’s 2019 theme of BEYOND, we invite lantern designs to be inspired by the literal or conceptual interpretation of the word. As this is a family-friendly event, art is encouraged to be generally uplifting, inspiring, imaginative and positive.
Feel free to bring your own art supplies should you feel inspired to do so. If staying for the Lantern Parade later that evening, remember to bring layers to stay warm and comfortable shoes!
Visit the Napa Lantern Parade Facebook Event to learn more. You can also check out Do Napa's Lantern Parade page or the City of Napa's Lantern Parade page for more info.

Recycling Roundup - Be Recycle-Ready Even After the Holidays?
Are you on the Naughty or the Nice List… for wrapping paper? Choose wrapping paper that belongs on the Nice List by wrapping with recyclable, reusable or compostable products. Things like newspapers, unwanted maps, untreated/not sparkly wrapping paper and paper gift bags not derived from plastic (if you can easily tear it like paper, then you can recycle it) are all recyclable or compostable! Step your game up further with reusable items like multi-use fabric bags, decorated reusable boxes, paper tape rather than scotch tape, jute twine, raffia, and natural greenery for decoration.
Everything Tastes Better Off a Real Plate Ditch the disposables and use traditional reusable dinnerware…because everything tastes better off a real plate! BUT, if you have to use disposable, opt for the paper plates and compost them after the meal – even the waxy ones can go into the brown compost cart (while still using reusable silverware – only a few minutes of washing!)
Napa Green Cheat Sheet- dispose of your materials properly - Soiled paper plates, paper towels, paper cups = compost
- Tissue paper = compost
- Christmas Tree = cut down in compost or Boy Scouts curbside pickup on 1/5/19
- Clean cardboard and paper (needs to rip like paper!) = recycle
- Broken/old Christmas lights, old appliances, old electronics, used cooking oil, bagged clothing and shoes = Recycle More program (free curbside pick up program after scheduling!)
- Batteries = 18+ drop off locations listed on NapaRecycling.com/Batteries
