New Tech High School Students Collaborate with the City of Napa and Adobe for the Napa Lighted Art Festival

Students and instructors alike at Napa’s New Tech High School have had an integral role in the development of two major elements of the Napa Lighted Art Festival. Since the first day of this academic year, they have been integrating studies of light, prototype development, digital art and Adobe design programs into this semester’s curriculum, all in collaboration with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. The illuminating final results will be enjoyed by the masses starting tomorrow, when the Napa Lighted Art Festival kicks off. Read more about this exciting collaboration here!

Napa LIghted Art Festival

Napa Lighted Art Festival - Starts this Weekend

Dates: January 12 - 20, 2019
Times: Monday - Thursday from 6 PM - 9 PM; Friday - Sunday from 6 PM - 10 PM

Art After Dark - Iconic Napa architecture becomes the painting in this lighted art walk. Original artwork created by local and international artists will be installed at approximately 16 locations in Downtown Napa and the Oxbow District. The festival features a combination of lighted sculptures, 3D mapping projections that conform to the building’s architecture, digital video art and creative technical lighting.

This year’s theme embodies and explores the concept of Beyond. The artwork represents concepts outside our physical limits, surpassing our imagination or demonstrating something that is greater or apart from us.  Experience Napa in a different light!

Sidewalk Safety

Let's Be Sidewalk Safe, Napa!

Here’s a quick reminder Napa, that we should all do our part to keep our streets safe. During these winter months, it gets dark earlier and bad weather can make driving tough.

In 2016, 867 pedestrians died, a nearly 33 percent increase from 2012. More than 14,000 pedestrians were injured.

Napa Public Works and the Napa Police Department wants to remind everyone to:

  • Pay attention to the roads and not phones
  • Look for pedestrians who may be walking behind your vehicle
  • Slow down and obey the speed limit
  • Stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk
  • Yield to pedestrians when turning
Wine to Water

Wine to Water Comes to Napa

We know people come from all over to visit our beautiful community and enjoy our wines. But did you know that our wine can make an even bigger impact around the world? The non-profit organization, Wine to Water, started with a simple concept: a bartender offering wine tastings to collect donations to support global clean water projects. This small act of kindness has grown to help over 750,000 people in 30 countries.

We are proud of and support Wine to Water’s commitment to helping disadvantaged communities and showing how our wines and our community can truly make a difference. We invite you to view the premiere of a 20-minute documentary highlighting clean water projects around the world at “Beyond The Valley”, a special event at the Culinary Institute of America at Copia in Napa on January 17. Councilmember Doris Gentry will be in attendance to issue a Proclamation highlighting these efforts.
