Westwood Neighborhood

Rehabilitation Project Phase I Complete

The first phase of our Westwood Neighborhood Rehabilitation Project is complete! Phase One included Kilburn Avenue, Chelsea Avenue, Bryan Avenue, Bremen Court, and Bancroft Court. This wonderful neighborhood dates back to the 1940's, and is one of Napa's earliest subdivisions. We are so excited to have completed these improvements for this neighborhood community: streets repaved, sidewalks and gutters repaired, pedestrian and bicycle travel ways redone - all so our community can enjoy the neighborhood while walking, biking or driving. Look for more improvements over the next two years in the Westwood area when we begin Phase Two! Thanks to everyone for your patience!

Pothole Work

Fixing Our Roads

One Pothole at a Time

Thank you, residents, who have helped in our efforts to fix potholes around town! By alerting us to potholes in your neighborhood, our crews are able to identify problem areas and get those potholes fixed. You may not always see the crews, because as you can see in the photo, they are up and at it pretty early!

Remember – if you see a pothole, you can report it via our online Service Center: www.cityofnapa.org/ServiceCenter - just let us know the pothole location by including the street name, an address or use the map!

Napa Police Department Community Service Officers in Training

Napa Police Department Community Service Officers

Training Underway

Martha Enriquez, Manuel Martinez, and Omar Delgadillo, Napa PD’s new Community Service Officers, are currently in training and last Thursday was chemical agent exposure day! All were willing to be exposed and see the effects of the "OC" spray first hand. They were good sports and recovered well and even allowed PD to share the video on Facebook to give the community an idea of the training they go through for this important job.

2019 Composting Workshops

Registration Now Open!

Registration is now open for Composting Workshops for 2019. Two types of workshop will be offered again this year—home composting and worm composting.

Home composting workshop attendees will learn the basics of composting, including tools, techniques, and bin types. Turn your yard trimmings and kitchen scraps into rich compost to use as a soil amendment or garden mulch.

Worm composting (vermiposting) focuses on food scraps and is often the best option for those with limited space and minimal or no yard waste. Participants will assemble a working worm bin to take home.

Registration is FREE and there are four dates available. You can register for EITHER one home compost OR one worm compost class on any workshop day. Participants can register at https://compost.naparecycles.org/ - space is limited!

Hydrant Flushing

Annual Hydrant Flushing Program

The City of Napa Water Division's annual Hydrant Flushing Program is now underway.

Current Location

In mid-February, 2019, the Water Division’s annual Hydrant Flushing Program will complete operations in Browns Valley and will begin operations in the Central Downtown area, which extends from Lincoln Avenue in the north to the marina south of Imola Avenue, between Highway 29 and the Napa River, as well as areas near Oxbow and the Fairgrounds. Flushing in the core business district downtown will be performed at night to minimize impacts to traffic and business operations. Operations in Alta Heights in April will conclude this year’s program. You can view the flushing area maps, schedule and FAQs on our website

The City thanks Napa residents and businesses for their patience and apologizes for any inconvenience our program may cause. Please contact the City of Napa Water Division at (707) 257-9521 with any questions or concerns.

Napa Fire's Automated CPR Device - LUCAS

Napa Fire now has an automated CPR (LUCAS) device on all primary apparatus. This will provide a better service for all our citizens and reduce the time in which it takes to get one of these potentially life-saving devices on scene. The Napa Valley Register did a great article on the new devices - check it out!
Early bystander hands-only CPR is still key in most positive outcomes. To schedule a hands-only CPR lesson with the fire department, email- [email protected].

Cart Placement

Recycling, Landfill, or Compost Carts

Placement Reminders

Here are a few tips for your recycling, landfill or compost carts when putting them out on the street for pickup:

1. Carts should not obstruct bike lanes or sidewalks.
2. Place at least 2 feet away from other carts and 4–6 feet from other objects (e.g. cars, trees).
3. All items must be placed in the cart.
4. When your cart is full, set it out by 6AM on your service day.
5. Lid opening should face the street.
6. Carts should be removed from the curb as soon as possible after service to help keep streets, bike lanes and sidewalks clear and unimpeded.
