Tap Water Day 2019Saturday, May 11, from 10AM - 2PM Looking for a fun, educational event for the family on Mother’s Day weekend, complete with beautiful bay views? Come learn how your drinking water is made on Saturday, May 11, from 10AM to 2PM as the City of Napa opens its Edward I. Barwick Jamieson Canyon Water Treatment Plant to visitors. At this second annual “Tap Water Day” Open House, the community is invited to see the state-of-the-art equipment, processes, and people that convert raw water from the Sacramento River Delta into clean, safe drinking water for Napa and other local cities. The plant is located at 270 Kirkland Ranch Roach, just off Highway 12, between Highway 29 and I-80. Tours of the facility will start every twenty minutes, including a close-up look at the laboratory and advanced control system. Browse historical displays in the filter gallery to understand key milestones that led up to today’s modern water system. View a running slide show of our other major water facilities to get a sense of the system’s scale. See a display of the various underground pipes that distribute the water to your home. Check out system maps, ask questions of our engineers, and learn the value of tap water compared to other consumer products.
Tap Water Day is a free event for the whole family. Our water conservation booth will be on hand to greet arrivals. Children can win water-themed prizes playing our “Knock Out Water Waste” ball toss game. Light snacks and beverages will be available, including ‘Napa Tap’ water of course. And you can’t beat that view from the top of the hill! No registration is needed. Just stop by anytime between 10 and 2. Plenty of parking is available. For more information, visit our website!

Downtown Sidewalk Repair Starting Next Week Starting on Monday, May 6th, crews contracted by the City of Napa will be performing sidewalk repair maintenance and inspections in the Downtown area. This project is designed to improve walkability and accessibility in the area. Crews will address sidewalk trip hazards under 2 inches in height through horizontal sawcutting, which smooths out the lifted area of sidewalk. Work will occur between 8 AM – 3 PM each day and the project will last approximately 2 weeks.
A map of the locations to be repaired can be found here.
Additional grinding and sawcutting is planned in other areas of Napa this year as well and we will alert the community as each area of work is scheduled. Planning for larger sidewalk repair projects, where areas are lifted more than 2 inches and require concrete replacement instead of grinding, is also underway. Thank you for your patience during this critical infrastructure maintenance work.
