Road Work Ahead

Road Work Ahead This Week

...and continuing!

Soscol Avenue

Crews began grinding and paving on Soscol Ave in both north and south bound lanes on Monday, June 10th, ending on Friday, June 21st. The work will begin in the southbound lanes starting at 6th Street and ending at Oil Company Road. Once completed work will begin in the northbound lanes beginning at Saratoga Drive and ending at 8th Street. Work hours will be from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm each day. We will only be blocking one lane of traffic per day, and providing traffic control around the closed lane. We will make sure traffic can get around the work while we are working, and should open the lane at the end of each day. Please be safe while driving through the area!

Street Rejuvenation – Various Neighborhoods

The City continues street rejuvenation in a number of neighborhoods through Tuesday, June 18Neighborhoods have been notified of the upcoming work. You can view a list of streets that will be affected by date, as well as maps, here.

Tulocay Creek Bridge Construction

Caltrans has scheduled temporary overnight lane closures on Soscol Avenue at the Tulocay Creek Bridge in Napa between Kansas Avenue and Silverado Trail starting June 17 through June 19 for lane re-striping and installation of temporary railing. One lane will always be open in each direction during the temporary closures.

One lane on the bridge is scheduled to close at 6:00 PM on Monday, June 17, re-opening at 7:00 AM Tuesday, June 18. One lane will again be closed at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, re-opening at 7:00 AM on Wednesday the 19th. The lane closures will alternate between the southbound and northbound sides of SR-121 on the bridge. MAP

The striping is part of work on the bridge that will continue through the fall. All four lanes on the bridge will remain open during the work, with short exceptions such as the temporary overnight lane closures described above.
There will be a speed reduction in the work area from the posted 35 mph to 25 mph. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and observe the reduced speed limit.

Napa Roundabouts

Napa Roundabouts Update

The southbound lane of California Boulevard will be temporarily closed between Clay and First until end of day today (Friday, June 14).

Work on the three roundabouts is expected to conclude in 2020. As the project progresses, the City will alert the community via this newsletter, social media (FacebookTwitter and Nextdoor), radio and local media.

Materials Diversion Facility

Solid Waste Rates Notice

Now Online in English and Spanish

Residents can be proud of Napa’s solid waste program that diverts approximately 69% of collected materials from landfill. We have a robust recycling, food scrap and composting facility, and clean Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) collection vehicles. The City extended the life of equipment and vehicles with a contract extension with Napa Recycling & Waste Services (NRWS) but expenses are expected to exceed revenues by nearly $3.2 million in 2020.  Rates have not increased since 2016 but changes are proposed to meet the increasing costs of the City’s dynamic materials diversion program.

You can read about Napa's solid waste, recycling and composting programs, as well as the proposed rate increases, in the Solid Waste and Recycling Rates Notice, which is available online in English and Spanish.
