The Napa City Fire Department has announced the start of the 2008 Weed Abatement season. Please take a moment to read this important message, as it reflects changes in our ongoing efforts to keep our community safe from fire. These changes could have a fiscal impact on affected property owners in the City of Napa.
In the interest of a fire safe community, let us all do our part to keep Napa free of fire danger and a nice place to live. Complaints of properties in need of weed abatement can be reported on our 24-hr Weed Abatement Hotline at 707-257-9275.

In May 2008, a contractor
working for the City of Napa will begin the
replacement of the First Street Bridge
over the Napa River just west of Silverado Trail. The
duration of the bridge replacement is expected to be 14 to 16 months, with First Street
re-opening in the late summer or early fall of 2009.
The bridge replacement requires the closure of First Street at the
River for the duration of the project. Sometime between May 12 and May 31, 2008, the contractor will close First Street on
both sides of the bridge. On the east, the closure will begin at Juarez Street
(keeping the intersection of First and Juarez
open.) On the west, the closure will be set up near the pedestrian crosswalk, adjacent
to the water fountain in front of Copia. Driveways and parking lots at Copia
will remain open throughout the work. Detour routes will be posted to direct
east-west traffic to Third Street
on the south or Lincoln Avenue
on the north.
