The Planning Commission is responsible for the preparation, revision, and implementation of a comprehensive long term General Plan for the physical development of the City and surrounding area.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.  Conducts hearings and makes decisions and/or recommendations on a variety of land use applications, including use permits, variances, General Plan amendments, rezonings and subdivision maps.
2.    Reviews and studies other such land use and planning issues as assigned to it by the City Council.

Membership
The Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council and consists of five (5) members. Terms are for a period of two (2) years.
Members are compensated at the rate of $100 per meeting, in addition to the reasonable traveling expenses incidental to attendance, when authorized by the City Council, at planning conferences or meetings of planning executives, hearings on planning legislation or matters affecting the General Plan or any part thereof. The Planning Commission is required to file statements with the Fair Political Practices Commission pursuant to the Political Reform Act of 1975.

Meetings
The Planning Commission meets regularly on the first and third Thursdays of each month, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 955 School Street.
