The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission consists of seven members. Additionally, there is one non-voting member who is a high school student in the City of Napa. July 7, 2010 (Rescheduled from July 14, 2010) September 1, 2010 November 3, 2010Qualifications All members must be full-time residents and, with the exception of the high school representative, registered voters of the City of Napa. Members must have a background or interest in planning, implementation and maintenance of landscape in park facilities (e.g., landscape architects, landscape designers, or persons with a demonstrated interest in horticulture). Duties & Responsibilities 1. Make written recommendations to the City Council on matters referred to said Commission by the Council. 2. Make written recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Services Director and City Council affecting the acquisition, development and maintenance of parks within the city. 3. Make written recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Services Director and the City Council regarding matters of public recreation in the city. 4. Make written recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Services Director and Council regarding cultural activities of public interest in the city. 5. Make written recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Services Director and Council affecting development of privately and publicly landscaped areas within the city. Membership The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission is appointed by the City Council and consists of seven members who serve a term of two years without compensation, with the exception of the student representative, who is appointed for a period of two years, or upon leaving high school, whichever occurs first. Meetings The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every other month (see revised meeting schedule above) in the City Council Chambers, 955 School Street, Napa.
