The Tree Advisory Commission advises the Council on all issues involving trees, including City street trees and Significant Trees in the community. The Commission may also serve as an appeals board.

2010 MEETING SCHEDULE: January 20, 2010 March 17, 2010 June 16, 2010 September 15, 2010 October 20, 2010 Qualifications Tree Commissioners have an interest in actions and activities concerning trees in the City of Napa. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Consider and approve or reject all applications, for removal of City street trees, 24 inches or larger in diameter, unless the Director of Parks and Recreation Services Department determines the tree to be an immediate public hazard. 2. Consider and approve or reject all appeals of decisions by the Community Resources Department concerning tree removals. 3. Make advisory recommendations to the City Council on any subject relating to trees when so requested by City Council or City Staff. 4. Review City tree ordinances, policies, and programs annually and forward any recommendations to the City Council. 5. Prepare an annual report of the Commission's actions and activities, and provide recommendations for future activities. 6. Nominate, with consent of Property Owner, designations of Significant Trees. 7. Consider and approve or reject all applications for removal of a Significant or Protected Tree. 8. Determine replacement options for Significant or Protected Trees, removed or damaged. Membership The Tree Advisory Commission is appointed by the City Council and consists of five (5) members who are qualified by reason of training or experience in the fields of aboriculture, horticulture, and urban planning. Two (2) of the five (5) members may be County residents. Terms are for a period of two (2) years. Meetings The Tree Advisory Commission meets the third Wednesday of the month starting in January of each year (see meeting schedule above). Meeting time is 5:30 p.m. in the Committee Room at City Hall (behind Council Chambers), 955 School Street. The Commission may hold special meetings if there is a pending application or appeal to consider.
