Unless someone has recently been in an accident or had a life
threatening emergency, they probably haven’t thought much about the local
emergency medical system (EMS). But just
imagine if the emergency medical system were not in place, and if paramedics or
911 dispatchers did not have adequate training. National Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) Week, May 17 – 23, is a good time to recognize the importance of

A Budget Workshop is scheduled for Monday, May 18 at 4pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 955 School Street. The City Council will receive the preliminary budget for Fiscal Years 2009-10/2010-11, and a presentation will be made by City Manager Mike Parness.The Preliminary Budget document is available here for downloading in .pdf format, broken into sections to minimize file size.

City of Napa crews are on the scene of a water main break in Browns Valley. There are an undetermined number of homes affected and without water service at this time. Browns Valley Road from Scenic Drive to Karen Drive was closed at about 3:30pm in both directions and will remain closed until repairs are completed – there is no estimate of a reopening time at this point. Southbound traffic on Browns Valley Road is being detoured to Karen Drive, northbound traffic is detoured to Scenic Drive. Emergency vehicle access is being maintained.

The City of Napa Parks and Recreation Services Department invites you to attend the "Magic in May" Spring Social this Saturday May 16, 2009 at the Napa Senior Activity Center, 500 Jefferson Street. The event will feature live entertainment with "Alan The Amazing 3rd Generation Magician." Doors open at 5pm with a dinner of barbecued chicken and all the fixings served at 5:30pm.
The suggested donation is $10 per person, and seating is limited seating so tickets should be purchased in advance. Call 707-255-1800. The Spring Social is sponsored by the City of Napa Parks and Recreation Services Department.
