City will allot CDBG Stimulus Funds - deadline to apply May 13

The City of Napa has been awarded Community Developmetn Block Grant (CDBG) Stimulus funds and is soliciting proposals for use of the funds. Approximately $165,733 will be available for projects. Any projects funded with this money must meet all the standard requirements for CDBG, as well as Recovery Act Requirements. In addition to the projects meeting the eligibility requirements, there are special reporting requirements to ensure full transparency. Applicants for the funding must be capable of meeting all the requirements in order to be considered.

Weed abatement season open

The Napa City Fire Department has announced the start of the 2009 Weed Abatement season.  Napa Municipal Code Chapter 8.24 requires the Fire Department to conduct annual inspections of properties for the purpose of abating hazardous vegetation and accumulations of combustible materials.  All properties are required to be cleared by June 1 of each year and then maintained throughout the fire season. The end of fire season is determined by CAL FIRE and is typically November 1st, or only after measurable amounts of rainfall. Complaints of properties in need of weed abatement can be reported on our 24-hr Weed Abatement Hotline at 707-257-9275. DUI and Drivers License Checkpoint Ahead

On Saturday 5/9/09 the Napa Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint somewhere in the city limits of Napa.  The checkpoint will be in an area where the City of Napa has experienced a high number of collisions because the driver was driving under the influence.

Census workers conduct address canvassing

This information from the US Census Bureau is provided as a courtesy to City of Napa resident.

The 2010 Census has launched its next operation, Address Canvassing. A preliminary wave began on March 29th, and the mass effort launched on April 6, 2009. The entire phase will conclude by June 19, 2009. During Address Canvassing, the Census Bureau canvassers will identify every living quarter where people live or could potentially live, and verify more than 145 million addresses.

Draft Heritage Napa Historic Prioritization Study complete

The City of Napa has completed a draft Heritage Napa Historic Prioritization Study and welcomes public review of the document.  This study is the second step toward improving historic preservation efforts in the City.The purpose of the study is to build on the success of the development of the City’s Historic Context Statement approved by the City Council on April 22, 2009.
