The Voter Information Guides for the May 19, 2009 Special Statewide Election will be shipped by the Secretary of State no later than Tuesday April 28, 2009 according to information received from the Secretary today.  “These voter information guides contain all the information that voters need to make an informed decision on the 6 measures on the Statewide Special Election ballots and sample ballot pamphlets that 70,000 Napa County registered voters received early this week,” explained John Tuteur Napa County Registrar of Voters.

Sister Cities to battle on International Challenge Day 2009

Napans are invited to join the "Get Moving Napa" program now to receive notification of special deals and activities going on in Napa on International Challenge Day, May 27th. The City is engaging in a friendly competition with Sister City Launceston, Tasmania, Australia on International Challenge Day, urging all residents to “GET MOVING NAPA” and be physically active for at least 15 minutes. Persons taking part are asked to report in by visiting one of many local check-in spots, calling or emailing. Community Resources Department staff will tally how many people in Napa got moving that day with hopes of being more active as a community than our Sister City Launceston. Workshop will deal with foreclosures

A workshop titled "Improving Napa County’s Quality Of Life In The Face of Foreclosures: Practical Strategies For Preventing Neighborhood Blight" will be presented by Fair Housing Napa Valley in collaboration with the City of Napa S.M.A.R.T. Paving on Highway 29 northbound to continue through Thursday night

Each night through Thursday, April 23 from 10pm to 6am, Caltrans maintenance crews are paving failed sections of the roadway along northbound State Route 29 in the following locations:

  • Watson Lane exit to South Kelley Road
  • Old Sonoma Road to the First Street exit
  • California Drive exit to Hoffman Lane
Motorists are advised to expect delays and encouraged to take alternate routes if necessary.  Motorists are also advised that traffic fines are doubled in construction zones. Changeable message signs have been placed along State Route 29 to advise motorists of the time and location of the maintenance work being performed. Please “Slow For The Cone Zone.”

DUI Patrols on the streets Friday night

During the evening of 4/17/09 the Napa Police Department will be conducting DUI Saturation Patrols in the city limits of Napa.  The saturation patrols will be in an area where the City of Napa has experienced a high number of collisions because the driver was driving under the influence and in areas where a high number of DUI arrests have been made.
