Fallen trees close river trail

Several fallen trees have caused the closure of the trail along the Napa River just south of Trancas Street. The area of the downed trees is about 100 yards south of the trailhead at Trancas Street. The trail is closed in both directions while crews are removing the trees. It is expected that it will take up to four hours to clear the debris and re-open the trail. 

"Hoops to Stop Youth Violence" set for March 28

The City of Napa Police and Fire Departments will square off on the basketball court in a charity game this Saturday, March 28, 2009. Presented by the Napa Police Officers Association, "Hoops to Stop Youth Violence" will tip off at 6pm at the Napa High School Gym. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door, and can be purchasedat the Police Department at 1539 First Street or at any City of Napa Fire Station. Napa Fleet Manager honored

Health and Wellness Fair set for Friday March 6

The City of Napa Community Resources Department sponsors a Health and Wellness Fair on Friday March 6, 2009, at the Napa Senior Activity Center, 1500 Jefferson Street. The event is free, and will take place from 9am to 11:30am. Free health screenings will be available and light refreshments will be served.

DUI/Drivers License checkpoint set for Friday night

On Friday Febraury 27, 2009, the Napa Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint somewhere in the city limits of Napa.  The checkpoint will be in an area where the City of Napa has experienced a high number of collisions because the driver was driving under the influence. 

The goals of the checkpoint include educating the public on the dangers of impaired driving, getting unlicensed drivers off the road, and arresting those found to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Checkpoints have been proven to lower the death and injury rate from impaired driving when used consistently.
