Napa County Avoid the 9 announced today that they are joining forces with the National Football League (NFL), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the California Office of Traffic Safety along with other State and local highway safety and law enforcement officials to remind everyone to act responsibly by designating a sober driver if they plan on drinking alcohol on Super Bowl Sunday.

Napa Police receives grant for traffic enforcement

Building on the successes seen in recent years, the ‘Avoid the 9’ taskforce will be bringing more traffic enforcement to Napa County.  New equipment purchases and special traffic enforcement measures are on tap as a result of a recent $372,688 three year grant awarded by the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to the Napa Police Department. The Napa Police Department will be administering the grant for the entire county.  Law enforcement in Napa County is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education.

Police on the lookout for DUIs this Friday night

During the evening of Friday 1/23/09 the Napa Police Department will be conducting DUI Saturation Patrols in the city limits of Napa.  The saturation patrols will be in an area where the City of Napa has experienced a high number of collisions because the driver was driving under the influence and in areas where a high number of DUI arrests have been made.

Heritage Napa Citywide Context Statement released, comments welcome

The City of Napa has released a draft of the Heritage Napa Citywide Context Statement (revised January 26, 2009).  This Context document is designed to serve as the basis for an Update to the City’s Historic Resource Inventory which documents all of the historic building in Napa.  A Historic Context Statement discusses the historic development of the City and focuses that history on the development patterns that influenced the structures that were built over time. Parks Master Plan workshop series wraps up Wednesday

A series of community workshops on the City of Napa’s Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan will conclude this week. At these workshops, residents are learning more about the Master Plan process and are participating in fun, interactive exercises and lively discussion. The final workshops in the series will be held Wednesday January 28, 7pm to 9pm, at Las Flores Community Center, 4300 Linda Vista Avenue.
