City's blooming culinary scene recognized

Wednesday March 19, 2008

More praise has been dished up for the City of Napa's restaurant offerings, with the ranking of Ubuntu as #2 on the New York Times' list of "Intriguing New Restaurants Outside of New York."

This latest commendation comes on the heels of the February event welcoming La Toque Restaurant to the new Westin Verasa Hotel, at which Chef Ken Frank stated that the culinary "center of gravity has shifted" from the upper Napa Valley to the City of Napa.

Napa's food fortunes have been on the rise for a number of years as downtown Napa has gradually grown into a food and wine destination. The City now features 21 Zagat-rated restaurants and the number of wine tasting rooms/wine bars approaches 20.

The Ghisletta property is located outside the City limits, but inside the Rural-Urban Limit (RUL) line, and is identified in the current General Plan as a potential site for future housing.
