Special Events with Alcoholic Beverages/Responsible Beverage Service
The Napa Police Department is responsible for reviewing and approving the Alcohol Beverage Control Daily License Application/Authorization form (ABC-221). ABC holds the organization as the licensee responsible for the conduct of this special event. There are laws and best practices that can have a direct impact on preventing problems at your event where alcoholic beverages are served. In September 2009, the Napa Police Department implemented Conditions of Operation for Special Events with Alcohol. These conditions were implemented to assist in preventing underage sales to minors, public intoxication and impaired driving which threatens the safety of everyone in our community. Effective April 1, 2010, the Napa Police Department requires all persons serving or selling alcohol at special events within the city limits to receive training in Responsible Beverage Service (RBS). This requirement applies to all organizations who are applying for an ABC Daily License (form 221). Organizations can access an array of resources to assist in compliance by clicking on the links below. More information is also available at soberdrivernapavalley.com
Responsible Beverage Service training for Special Events is offered free of charge by the Napa County Health and Human Services Agency Alcohol and Drug Services, the Napa Police Department, the Napa County DUI Task Force and the Beverage Consulting Company. See the Training Flyer below for dates and times. The Napa Police Department will accept a certificate of completion from www.RBSPermit.com. This is an online RBS training that meets Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Standards. The online training is not free, there is a cost that each individual is responsible for paying. |
