The Napa Police Department, Napa Sheriff’s Department, Calistoga Police Department and Napa City Fire Department have gone live with an Internet based information service called Nixle.

This information service will allow these departments to send informational releases about real-time public safety emergencies, crime watch, safety tips as well as events sponsored by their department to the general public, via the pubilc’s cell phone or e-mail. This informational tool will assist these Departments in getting important messages out to the public in a far more timely fashion then ever before.

This is a good way for you and your family to be kept abreast of current issues within the City and County of Napa.  This is a free service.  To register with Nixle please visit www.nixle.com.  The only possible cost would be if you are charged, by your cell phone provider, for text messaging (you do have the option, with Nixle, of shutting off this feature of text notification and limiting you notification to E-mail only).
