The Napa Police Department subscribes to a web-based, crime mapping program called “Crime Reports.”
Community members can access Crime Reports free of charge at www.crimereports.com. There are over 800 law enforcement agencies that subscribe to this service. To stay informed about crime in your neighborhood, you may sign up and register for free email alerts. You can receive email alerts for a number of different addresses and choose the types of crime you are most concerned about. You can control whether you see the alerts daily, weekly or monthly. There is an IPhone application that can be downloaded for easy access of this web-site. Crime Reports automatically pulls completed crime reports once a day from the Napa Police Department records management system and publishes the crimes to a Google map application. Crime Reports shows the incidents on the maps by markers. Click on an incident marker to seem more details about the crime. Each incident will include the crime type, date, time, location, agency and case number. Crime types can be filtered by clicking on crime types and choosing the crimes to show on the map. Sex Offender’s name, sex, residence photos and other information can be added to the map. Crime Reports is easy to use and interactive. Crime Reports has an analytics view that will extend the understanding of local crimes. Interactive chars and graphs let you track total crime over time and by percentage.
