Napa 9/11 Memorial Coalition announces “The Unveiling – Phase ll” PDF Print Email

Tuesday September 4, 2012

The Napa 9/11 Coalition has announced “The Unveiling – Phase II” – a pair of events to recognize donors and to publicly unveil the solid glass panels that memorialize the nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 attacks.

  • The first event on September 10, 2012, will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Gordon Huether Hay Barn Gallery, 1821 Monticello Road and will feature the unveiling of the Memorial’s specialized glass elements weighing over two tons. The recommended donation for this event is $100 per person and those interested in attending are asked to visit www.napa911memorial.org to RSVP.
  • On the following day, September 11, an open house will be held at the Gordon Huether Hay Barn Gallery from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event will be open to the public and free of charge.

About a year ago, on September 11, 2011, a ceremony and dedication was held at the site of the Memorial on Main Street in Downtown Napa, marking the first phase of the project. The centerpiece of the Memorial, the art installation, combines 30 tons of steel beams from the World Trade Center site with massive glass panes and state of the art lighting. The Napa 9/11 Memorial will be one of the largest community memorials and will serve as a monument to those who perished on September 11, 2001 and to the first responders who acted heroically in the events that followed the terrorist attacks, as well as an educational piece for generations to come. The Memorial is a public- private partnership, developed by a large number of individuals and groups working together with a common purpose. Donations to the project and questions regarding the event should be directed to Jeff Gerlomes at 707.333.6018.Learn more about the project at www.Napa911Memorial.org.
