On September 24, 2014, the City of Napa will kick-off its first Citizens Academy - a program designed to help Napa residents learn more about their city government. The Citizens Academy is a free program for Napa residents 18 and over. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Sessions will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the exception of the final session which will be held on November 12, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will include a citywide bus tour, followed by a graduation ceremony and reception.

Academy members will:

  • Meet City Council members, department heads and staff
  • Learn how decisions are made, how city funds are allocated and how departments operate
  • Enjoy comprehensive overviews of departments, programs and services
  • Discover the current status and future plans for Napa's development
  • Expand their knowledge and become more informed on current issues and proposed projects within the City
  • Participate in lively discussions, role-playing and other fun interactive activities
  • Tour city facilities
  • Become informed, involved citizens

The inaugural Citizens Academy begins September 24, 2014. Available positions are expected to be filled quickly, so all interested residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
