For the last four days, the City of Napa Water Division has been serving customers from the local reservoir, Lake Hennessey, in order to avoid extremely high levels of taste and odor-causing algae currently present in the North Bay Aqueduct water supply. This water, which comes from the Sacramento Delta, was impacted by organic material washed into the water supply by recent heavy rains. While Napa customers are now receiving the highest quality of water available at this time, this water from Lake Hennessey does have a noticeable earthy or musty taste and odor this time of year. Water quality is monitored continuously at our treatment plants and within our distribution system, and all water is completely safe to use for all purposes and meets all State and Federal regulations for safe drinking water.
