During the evening of Saturday 10/25/08 the City of Napa Police Department will conduct DUI Saturation Patrols in the city limits of Napa. The saturation patrols will be in an area where the City of Napa has experienced a high number of collisions due to drivers under the influence and in areas where a high number of DUI arrests have been made.
The Napa Police Department is attempting cut down on collisions involving the driver who has been drinking. The Police Department wants the person that has been drinking to find an alternative way to get from one place to another without getting behind the wheel and driving. Some alternatives to driving are to take a cab, take the city bus, walk, call a friend, use a designated driver or not drink at all.
The funding for the DUI Saturation Patrols comes from a grant that the Napa Police Department received from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
