The City of Napa Police Department is looking for local stories where seat belts resulted in a happy ending to a dangerous situation.

The use of seat belts and proper car seats for children has increased in recent years, but with Napa currently ranking fifth-worst in the state of California for injury collisions in towns of similar size, the Police Department is seeking greater awareness of the need for seat belts.

The Police Department would like to hear the story of any local person who was:

  • issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt and was later involved in a collision where they felt the seat belt saved their lives or prevented a major injury, or
  • involved in an injury collision during 2008 either as the driver or as a passenger and believes the seat belt saved their life.

Any person who has a seat belt story to tell is asked to send their name, phone number, date of the collision, a brief summary of the collision, and any relevant photos to
