Effective Thursday June 19, 2008, no watercraft traffic is allowed under the First Street Bridge over the Napa River as demolition proceeds. The closure is to protect the safety of persons on the river in this area. Signs are posted to warn boaters.When demolition of the bridge is completed, this area of the river will again be accessible during non-working hours. Learn more about the project here.

On Saturday June 21, the Napa Rivefront Gran Prix bicycle race will take place in Downtown Napa. An estimated 600 to 700 riders will take part in this one-mile, closed-loop event. The following road closures will be in place from as early as 5am to as late as 7pm.
- Main St from First to Third
- Third St from Randolph to Main
- Randolph St from Third to Fourth
- Coombs St from Second to Fourth
- Brown St from Second to Third
- Second St from Brown to Main

First Street in the City of Napa is now closed on either side of the Napa River as a bridge replacement project is underway. Signs direct traffic to detour to Third Street on the south and Lincoln Avenue on the north. The closure is expected to continue through the end of August 2009.
Access to popular Oxbow District attractions such as the Napa Valley Wine Train, Oxbow Public Market, and Copia will be maintained from Soscol Avenue on the west, and both parking lots at Copia will remain unaffected by the closure.
