The full 1,700 feet of the new riverside promenade in Downtown Napa will be open for public use on Friday evenings and weekends, effective May 23, 2008. This limited availability will remain while crane work continues for the next two months or so at the Riverfront mixed-use project.
The schedule calls for the full length of the promenade to be open from 5pm to 11pm on Friday evenings and from 6am to 11pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. The portions of the promenade along the Napa Mill, and from Veterans Memorial Park north will remain open seven days a week.

The City of Napa has released the Initial Study-Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed Ritz-Carlton Napa Valley project. Public review copies of the report are available at the counter of the Planning Division in the Community Services Building at 1600 First Street. The report is also available for purchase at that location. Visit the project page to download the report. Comments on the report will be accepted through June 19, 2008.

The City Clerk office has announced that applications are being accepted for openings on the Cultural Heritage Commission and the Civil Service Commission. There are two open seats on the Cultural Heritage Commission, and one opening on the Civil Service Commission. For all openings, the deadline for submission of an application is 5pm June 2, 2008.

The City of Napa is conducting a survey to evaluate the accessibility of City programs and facilities. This survey is designed to record and understand individual experiences with City of Napa buildings, parks, programs and services. Community input through this survey will help insure that City services and facilities are accessible to people with disabilities, and will assist in prioritizing future improvements. The City of Napa will host a ceremony on Saturday May 10, highlighting the reopening of Veterans Memorial Park as part of the completed downtown floodwall and promenade.
Mayor Jill Techel and other City representatives will be joined in the Park by Congressman Mike Thompson, Flood District Board Chairman Brad Wagenknecht, Col. Thomas Chapman of the US Army Corps of Engineers and other dignitaries for the 1:30pm ceremony. Tom Sarciapone, Chairman of the Napa United Veterans Council, will present the flags which will then be raised by the Napa Police Department color guard. The public is invited to attend.
