On May 16th, City of Napa Community Development Department issued a Request for Proposals for design and consulting services to prepare a Master Plan and required environmental documentation for the CineDome Focus Area. Proposals are due by 5 pm on Friday, June 17th.
As defined in the Downtown Specific Plan and illustrated on the last page of the attached RFP, the Focus Area includes properties owned by the City, SyWest (former CineDome site) and Napa Sanitation District (former pump station and skate park site). The Master Plan will result in a mixed-use development plan that ensures viable land uses; establishes design guidelines for those uses; ensures appropriate massing and scale; enhances open space and linkages for pedestrians and bicyclists; creates activity alongside the Oxbow Commons; establishes a parking solution that addresses needs of existing and future development; and respects nearby neighborhoods.
Staff will work with the SyWest team to evaluate proposals, interview firms and prepare a recommendation for Council consideration this summer, and will kick off the planning shortly after award of contract. The planning effort is anticipated to take approximately one year, and will include stakeholder outreach and community outreach.
You can view the Request for Proposals here.
Before it ever carries floodwaters, Downtown Napa’s Oxbow Commons will get a chance to fulfill its other important role - recreation area! The new park will hosts its first large public event on Saturday, April 23rd as Napa’s annual Earth Day Celebration returns, bigger and better than ever. Presented by the Environmental Education Coalition of Napa County (EECNC), this year’s festival runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and features dozens of exhibitor booths displaying environmental products, services, games, and giveaways. Earth Day 2016 is a fun, educational event for the entire family, offering information on a host of important topics - alternative energy, local agriculture, watershed health, pollution prevention, recycling, and more. Expanded children’s activities and a special electric vehicle exhibit are just a few of the enhancements afforded by the new festival site.
