Openings on three City Commissions, Boards

The City Clerk office has announced that applications are being accepted for openings on three City of Napa Boards and Commissions. Vacancies exist on the Disability Access Board of Appeals, the Planning Commission, and the Tree Advisory Commission. Applicants must be City of Napa residents and registered voters except where indicated.

Lane Closures at Third and Soscol This Week

Updated Monday October 6, 2008

Improvements to the intersection of Third and Soscol Avenues are approaching completion. Work requiring lane closures will resume on Tuesday October 7. The lane closures will impact Soscol Avenue traffic, and are expected to continue through most of this week. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Drivers should anticipate delays and use alternate routes when possible. The reconfigured intersection now provides an additional left turn lane for northbound traffic on Soscol Avenue traveling west on Third Street.

 
Streets resurfaced around town Oct 6-9

Resurfacing of a number of residential streets will take place the week of October 6. The Annual Street Resurfacing project consists of asphalt-rubber chip seal application, slurry seal application, crack filling and restriping. The asphalt-rubber chip seal application will commence according to the schedule below. The slurry seal application will begin approximately one week after the chip seal.

Collection event for pharmaceuticals and sharps

The City of Napa Police Department will host a pharmaceutical and sharps (used syringes and needles) collection event on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1539 First Street in Napa from 10am to 4pm. City of Napa residents and others living in Napa County are encouraged to bring their unused or expired pharmaceuticals, as well as home generated sharps, to this collection event.

“Unused medicine that is sent down the drain can end up in our waterways and pollutes the environment,” said Bill Gaffney, Napa Sanitation District’s Pollution Prevention and Source Control Officer.
