Term Expires: December 2018
On November 14, 2017, Jim Krider was appointed to fill the vacancy on the City Council due to former Councilmember Juliana Inman's retirement. Prior to his appointment in 2017, Councilmember Krider was elected to Napa City Council in 2005, re-elected in 2008, and served until 2012. In addition, he served as a member and Chair of the City of Napa Planning Commission from 1994 to 2005.
Jim has been a resident of Napa since the early 1970s. In 1975-76, he owned a downtown bicycle shop, and later owned and operated a painting business, a bookkeeping business, and two franchise operations.
After an accident in 1982 left him in wheelchair, Jim was inspired by the response of the Napa community to the needs of his wife and two young sons during his recuperation. That experience led Jim to find a way to pay back the community by engaging in public service.
Over the years Jim has served as a Chair of the Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency, as a Boardmember of the Napa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, as a Boardmember of the City of Napa Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals and the City of Napa Disability Access Board of Appeals. He has been active with the Housing and Economic Policy Committee for the California League of Cities, Napa County Watershed Information Center and Conservancy, Arts Council of Napa Valley, Downtown Napa Property Based Improvement District, Salvador Stewardship Group and Sunrise Rotary of Napa.
In his spare time he focuses on family.
