Looking for a fun, educational event to kick off Mother's Day weekend? On Saturday, May 11 from 10 am to 2 pm, the City of Napa opens the gates to its state-of-the-art Edward I. Barwick Jamieson Canyon Water Treatment Plant at 270 Kirkland Ranch Road, just off Highway 12. At this second annual “Tap Water Day” Open House, the community is invited to see the equipment, processes, and people that convert raw water from the Sacramento River Delta into clean, safe drinking water for Napa and other local cities. Tours of the facility will start every twenty minutes, including a close-up look at the laboratory and advanced control system.
Browse historical displays in the filter gallery recounting key milestones that led up to today’s modern water system. View a running slide show of our other major water facilities. See the various underground pipes that distribute the water to your home. Check out a large system map, ask questions of our engineers and chemists, and learn the value of tap water compared to other consumer products.
Tap Water Day is a free event for the whole family. Our water conservation information booth will be on hand to greet arrivals. Children can win water-themed prizes playing our “Knock Out Water Waste” ball toss game. Light snacks and beverages will be available, including 'Napa Tap' water of course. And you can’t beat the beautiful bay view from the top of the hill! No registration is needed. Just stop by anytime between 10 and 2. Plenty of parking is available.
