The Napa City Fire Department Reserve Program is made up of local residents who add to our workforce on a part time basis. Reserves typically join our department without having all the prerequisites our full-time firefighters need to apply. Through the program they can work towards their state Firefighter 1 certificate. The goal of the Fire Chief is to have every Reserve hired as a full time Firefighter either here at NFD, or another department within 5 years. The reserves take part in the same training the full-time employees do and are considered a full functioning firefighter once their initial training is complete. The department is fully supportive of our reserves educational and work considerations and work with the individuals on coming up with a flexible schedule. Each reserve is required to work two 12hr shifts a month and attend 2 training days a month. The Reserve Program is a great way to get your foot in the door as an entry level firefighter or an outlet for locals to serve their community in a part time capacity.
