On August 6th, 2018, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) sent a "Technical Assistance Panel" (TAP) to Napa to focus on "place branding" in the Oxbow District. Expertise on the panel included representative from urban design, economic development, place-making, real estate development, urban planning, architecture, marketing/branding, and landscape architecture.
A precursor event was held on July 19th at the CIA Copia to provide a platform and venue for stakeholders to work through a series of exercises to contribute their individual perspectives. The information was recorded and assembled for distribution to the ULI panel and City Council.
The ULI panel utilized the information and synthesized it with technical data to make recommendations to the City Council on "place branding." On August 7, 2018, the TAP presented their findings to the City Council and on at the City Council meeting on January 15, 2019 Economic Development staff presented the final report.
