A project status update on the proposed Civic Center project was last presented to City Council on May 21, 2018. Since then, the new Interim City Manager took office at the end of July 2018, and he has made the proposed Civic Center project one of his top priorities. His goal is to examine all aspects of the proposed project and make recommendations for cost containment/reduction measures as well as proximity and efficiency improvements so that the Mayor and City Council can make informed decisions as it continues its negotiation with Plenary. In November, Council asked staff to present an updated financial analysis of the Civic Center project including changes in costs and revenue assumptions, project design and scope that have occurred in the project over the past several months. City Council will receive an update at a special meeting on Tuesday, December 11. In the meantime, Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) negotiations are ongoing with Plenary, a private development partner, to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain the new Civic Center.
