Recycling Award Winners 2020
We are proud to announce the City of Napa, Napa Recycling & Waste Services, and County of Napa’s JD Fullner Recycling Leadership Award Winners for the 2020 year!
The entities listed below are some of the recycling and composting champions of our beautiful Napa Valley community. These locations have worked hard to reduce what they send to a landfill by composting in their "back of house" (kitchen area)/lunch rooms/apartments and are excellent recyclers to boot! Each winner has been vetted by City of Napa Recycling Division staff and Napa Recycling to verify their outstanding performance as composting trailblazers!
How were the City of Napa winners selected?
- Every business and multi-family listed below are enrolled in our business composting program, which means all organic waste (food and soiled paper) from the kitchen area or cafeteria/lunch area (for schools), and composting is offered at the apartment complex is being diverted to compost instead of landfills;
- Have excellent audits: City of Napa Recycling staff completes random audits/checks on businesses/schools/and Multi-families to check on how they are performing with composting and recycling (little contamination, lots of contamination?) to assist if there are any contamination issues and check performance for Recycling Awards; (schools and composting business participants are audited at least three times a year by our staff!)
- Little to no contamination notices by Napa Recycling: Napa Recycling’s business compost driver checks EVERY TIME they are serviced!; and
- Surprise walk-throughs by our Waste Prevention Specialist showed excellent diversion (composting/recycling) taking place.
